Institute representatives join 1st Congress of the Association of Geologists, Geophysicists and Engineers

The event was part of the Russian Energy Industry Conference in Moscow on 15 October.

The Institute was represented by Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences, Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing and Director of CdoGEO (Center for Advanced Training), and Vladislav Sudakov, Deputy Director of Gazpromneft-KFU Center for Marketing.

Danis Nurgaliev told about the cooperation between the Association and Kazan Federal University, opportunities and realized projects. He familiarized the participants with the main priorities of KFU and IGPT. The Vice-Rector paid special attention to the Institute’s cooperation with companies – Rosneft, Gazprom Neft, Tatneft, and others.

“The Association should become a platform where universities, students, companies, employers can interact, get useful information, share experience, organize conferences, and grow,” notes Dr Nurgaliev. “An information hub should be created as part of AGGI, where students will be able to familiarize themselves with industry trends, learn about conferences, companies, vacancies, get access to publications. AGGI should facilitate the implementation of educational initiatives – organizing courses of famous scientists, conducting student internships, contributing to the development of university teachers. In addition, I propose to study the experience of the world associations of geologists in order to introduce the best practices and make the interaction more fruitful.”

Much work will be done in additional professional education.

“During the conference we talked to representatives of companies – customers of CdoGEO – Gazprom Neft, LUKOIL, Irkutsk Oil Company, Tatneft,” says Ildus Chukmarov. “With Vladimir Vorobyov and coordinator Anastasia Turovtseva we discussed expanding cooperation in several areas. First, creating and conducting webinars with the participation of teachers and experts. Recording of lectures in the Incubator of Distance Education Projects and publication on the Rutube-channel of CdoGEO. Secondly, implementation of CdoGEO courses at AGGI events. Thirdly, opening a student chapter of AGGI at KFU. Fourth, preparation of field workshops on our Geologist steamship for AGGI members. We have experience in all areas, so we are ready to implement it in the interests of AGGI.”

On October 15, a foresight session dedicated to the current progress and plans of the Association on new scientific topics, conferences and seminars, training courses, programs, lectures, webinars, and presentation of a new industry scientific journal were held as part of the conference.
