Russian Geographical Society sums up 2025 and draws up plans for the future
The Tatarstan Branch of RGS convened at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies.
Among the participants were Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev, Chairman of the TB RGS Dmitry Shiller, and other employees of both entities.
Vice-Rector Nurgaliev welcomed everyone and noted that it was not the first time when KFU hosted RGS’s events.
Mr Shiller then presented the results of the year. In particular, in 2025, TB RGS organized 12 conferences for over 1,000 high schoolers, in which KFU was the partner. The thematic commission on geographical and ecological education, helmed by President of KFU Riyaz Minzaripov, continued its work as well.
Among the planned events for 2026 are new conferences for schools, educational events, works on the preservation of endangered species (such as saker falcon), cleaning of local water bodies, exhibitions, science trips, and much more. Special attention will be paid to teaching cartography and orienteering to secondary school students.
In conclusion, letters of appreciation from RGS were handed to Vice-Rector Nurgaliev, KFU employees, and other invitees.
