Magnetometer adjustment meeting held in Yaroslavl Oblast
A large-scale adjustment of observatory declinometers/inclinometers and scalar magnetometers organized by the Geophysical Center and the Schmidt Institute of Earth Physics was held at Borok Geophysical Observatory on 28 – 29 September.
Magnetologists from Russian organizations took part, including the Institute of Space Physics Research and Radio Wave Propagation (Paratunka Geophysical Observatory, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Institute of Solar and Earth Physics (Patrony Geophysical Observatory, Siberian Branch of RAS), the Institute of Geophysics (Arti Geophysical Observatory, Ural Branch of RAS), the Mining Institute (Ural Branch of RAS), Kazan Federal University (Raifa Magnetic Observatory), Geophysical Center of RAS, the Institute of Geosphere Dynamics (Miknhyovo Magnetic Observatory). The reference scalar magnetometer PIC-1 was provided by the Research Laboratory of Quantum Magnetometry of Ural Federal University.
During two days, the efforts of the adjustment team with the support of the personnel of the Borok Geophysical Observatory carried out measurements on all instruments and obtained information on their technical condition, and also discussed the current state, problems and prospects for the development of the national network of stationary geomagnetic observations.
