KFU research showcased at Tatarstan Oil Summit
This 14th July, the summit marked the 80th anniversary of oil industry in Tatarstan and the 75th anniversary of the discovery of Romashkino oilfield, the bread and butter of local oil industry.
Among the booths visited by industry captains and Rais (Governor) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was one installed by KFU’s Center for Liquid Hydrocarbons.
Speaking about the University’s developments were Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences, IGPT Director Danis Nurgaliev, Deputy Director of IGPT Vladislav Sudakov, Deputy Head of the Center for Modeling of Hard-to-Recover Reservoirs Artur Shakirov, and others.
The KFU experts covered such topics as in-situ refining, on-the-spot desulphurization, ultrasound treatment, and chemical enhancement of oil recovery.
Of special interest to the visitors was a polymer flooding technology, a technique assisting in oil displacement. Among IGPT’s new projects mentioned at the summit was a research of isotopic content of Tatarstan’s potable water.
The summit included a plenary session with reports on the Russian energy sector, ESG, and other topics.
The 4th International Youth Petroleum Forum opened concurrently with the oil summit, and KFU students partook in it.
