KFU represented at the Developing Carbon Potential – Green Technologies conference in Ufa
The event took place at Ufa State Petroleum Technical University on May 21 – 23, organized by the Center for Liquid Hydrocarbons and the Institute of Scientific Communication.
More than 100 leading scientists and talented young researchers from foreign and Russian universities, as well as authoritative figures of science and higher education from other countries, such as Algeria, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Palestine, and Uzbekistan took part in the conference.
The organizing committee of the conference included representatives of Kazan Federal University:
Danis Nurgaliev, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences;
Mikhail Varfolomeev, Chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering;
Vladislav Sudakov, Deputy Director for Innovation of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies.
The conference was also joined by Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of IGPT, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO), Ruslan Kemalov, Associate Professor of the Department of Oil, Gas and Carbon Materials Technology, and Dinar Valiev, Senior Research Associate of the Center for Liquid Hydrocarbons.
At the solemn opening of the conference guests and participants were welcomed by Oleg Baulin, Rector of Ufa State Petroleum Technical University, Khalilat Muhammad Taher, Rector of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla University (Algeria), Benbrahim Fauzi, Rector of Kasdi Merbah High School (Algeria), and Abdullah Issa, Counselor of the Embassy of Palestine to Russia.
The conference included plenary sessions and round tables where Russian and foreign scientists talk about the results of their research in geology, geochemistry, and field development.
Danis Nurgaliyev made a report Research results and implemented technologies developed by the world-class scientific center ‘Rational development of liquid hydrocarbon reserves of the planet’ at the plenary session.
“We presented the laboratories and human potential of the Center, as well as latest developments, which have already found wide application in the practice of service and oil producing companies. All this testifies to the possibility of solving the most urgent problems of oil and gas production by the consortium. The results were met with great interest by our Russian and foreign colleagues. An exhibition of the results of our colleagues from Ufa Petroleum University was also organized here. For example, a working device for well flushing – FlowMax circulation translator, a simple and effective tool which is in demand in the practice of horizontal wells – was demonstrated there. My interest was piqued by a superconducting gravimeter also being developed at USPTU,” said Danis Karlovich.
Mikhail Varfolomeev’s topic was New reagents based on acrylic chemistry for well treatment and enhanced oil recovery.
“Today, one of the most important areas of the oil and gas industry is to improve production efficiency, as the average recovery factor at most facilities does not exceed 30-35%. Consequently, most of the hydrocarbons in already developed fields remain in the reservoir. To recover them, specialized chemical reagents and enhanced oil recovery technologies are required. Within the framework of the plenary report, the Center’s developments in the creation and pilot application of specialized chemistry for well treatment, stimulation and production enhancement were presented. Together with industrial partners we have gone all the way from the idea of reagent creation to their successful field application in the fields of the Russian Federation. I am confident that these developments will make a positive contribution to the development of domestic low-tonnage chemistry for the oil and gas industry. Moreover, the raw materials for its production are produced in Russia by large petrochemical companies,” said Varfolomeev.
During the round table Resource-saving technologies of production, gathering, transportation and storage of hydrocarbons Dinar Valiev made his report Development of combined technology of oil refining at the stages of production and transportation.
