Institute visited by representatives of Esun

The global leader in biodegradable technology is interested in establishing links with KFU.

Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev and Director of Chemical Technology Park Mikhail Varfolomeev met with Liu Zhaoxia, General Manager of the Oilfield Chemistry Department, and Xiong Jie, Senior Sales Manager of the same department.

“Esun produces over 50,000 tons of biodegradable materials annually. They are actively used in 3D printing. At the same time, these materials have great potential for use in the oil and gas industry,” Varfolomeev said. “During the visit, we discussed areas of potential joint research in the development and testing of specialized chemical reagents for the oil and gas industry based on biodegradable materials.”

According to him, Kazan University scientists are actively working on creating biodegradable polymers that will be incorporated into hydraulic fracturing fluids or used for well treatment. Mikhail Varfolomeev believes that collaboration with one of the leading manufacturers of such materials will allow KFU to improve the effectiveness of its research and create products for the oil and gas industry with competitive advantages.

After meeting with university management, the Chinese guests toured the Institute’s laboratories and were very pleased with what they saw. Liu Zhaoxia and Xiong Jie stated that they were convinced that KFU’s laboratory facilities are capable of conducting a full cycle of testing reagents for the oil and gas industry, including those based on biodegradable materials.
