Gazprom Neft’s strategic session hosted at Institute

For four days, from September 9 to 12, the attention of the event participants was focused on the problems of processing bottomhole zones and enhancing oil recovery.

“The strategic session was jointly held by the Center for Advanced Training and the research division of Gazprom Neft. The key issues were related to the organization of work, the current state and prospects for the development of technologies for processing the bottomhole zone of wells, as well as related to the implementation of work to limit water inflow. For the first time, inflow profile alignment technologies were highlighted on the scale of a separate topic,” said Ildar Mannanov, one of the lecturers at the session, Associate Professor of the Department of Petroleum Engineering.

Along with KFU teachers, lectures were given by representatives of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and the Tatarstan Research and Project Institute of Oil (TatNIPIneft). Specialists from leading oilfield service companies shared their practical experience during the discussions.

“The intensive course was organized to improve the skills of Gazprom Neft employees, set research objectives, discuss the company’s pressing problems and jointly search for solutions,” added Dr Mannanov.

The results of the session were summed up by Yan Dolgikh, Project Manager for the Bottomhole Treatment and Enhanced Oil Recovery Projects at Gazprom Neft’s research division.

“The event, which was not only educational but also communicative in nature, was attended by employees of several subsidiaries, including the company’s research division, focused on solving problems aimed at increasing oil production volumes and well potential,” he said. “KFU is one of the best universities in the country. During various events, the session participants discussed with scientists and representatives of our division the nuances of the problems arising in subsidiaries. I think we managed to unite, introduce representatives of different structural divisions of the company, and they will exchange experience in solving production problems with each other.”

Yan Dolgikh expressed hope that such strategic sessions will become annual.

“This session revealed the needs of employees of our subsidiaries for advanced training. CdoGEO offered to conduct courses on topics of interest to us. We will consider this,” he noted.

Head of CdoGEO Ildus Chukmarov commented, “Such events contribute to the expansion of cooperation between the Institute and industrial partners in a variety of areas, be it employment, industrial internships for students, or business contracts.”
