Delegation of PDVSA Rusia hosted at Institute

The visit spanned through 26 and 27 April.

The delegation included PDVSA Rusia General Director Hoglys Martinez, Petromiranda Joint Venture Earth Sciences and Fields Manager Jonathan Borrome, Petromiranda Joint Venture petrophysicist Evelyn Gómez, Executive Directorate for Integrated Exploration and Exploration Exploration’s (DEXEIY) Geophysics and Geodesy Manager Manuel Bolívar, Technical Consultant of Venezuelan Oil Corporation (CVP) Julio Lugo, Business Development Analyst of PDVSA Rusia Elizaveta Fedulova, and Institutional Relations Analyst Olesya Kazakova. They were accompanied by local partners – TNG Group Project Manager in Venezuela Sergei Fomichyov, Director of TNG Kazangeofizika Ramis Gizzatullin, and Head of TGN Group’s Center for Geodynamics Modeling Igor Ustimov.

The meeting was opened by Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences, who spoke in detail about the history of Kazan University and the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, as well as reported on the main research areas of IGPT and developments geology and oil and gas production.

Hoglys Martinez thanked everyone for the Spanish-language presentation and passed the floor to his colleagues Manuel Bolívar and Evelyn Gómez.

As Mr Bolívar emphasized, Venezuela has huge oil reserves. Ms Gómez demonstrated the structure of the fields and the wells and elaborated on some of the undertaken enhanced oil recovery methods.

“We hope that your technologies and developments will help to solve our problems,” said Hoglys Martinez. “I am sure that such an alliance – KFU, TNG-Group LLC and PDVSA – will allow us to increase the level of oil production in Venezuela.”

Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, told about the programs of professional retraining, advanced training, and basic education (bachelor’s and master’s degrees) in Spanish.

“CdoGEO is an exporter of KFU programs of additional professional education,” he said. “We have a great experience of interaction with Latin America. Since 2015 we have been cooperating with Cuba in all directions, in particular, in education. During this time we have trained 267 specialists and managers of the company. We also cooperate with China, Iraq, and Vietnam. We offer you bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, advanced training, professional retraining, individual internships, summer schools. We are ready to consider any applications for implementation of training, retraining, professional development and internship programs for your enterprise.”

The guests expressed great interest, emphasizing that they pay great attention to the training of their staff.

On the second day the guests visited the Shtukenberg Geological Museum and the Institute’s laboratories.

“Venezuela is the country with the largest reserves of viscous and extra-viscous oil,” says Dr Nurgaliev. “Oil reserves here are so large that when hydrocarbons run out in the Persian Gulf countries, the main production will move here. During the negotiations we paid special attention to the demonstration of our technologies and programs of training and retraining of personnel. In the near future our colleagues will prepare a cooperation agreement.”

“TNG-Group LLC cooperates with PDVSA under a contract for seismic surveys,” explained Sergei Fomichyov. “Since we work closely with KFU on many projects, we were happy to participate in such an alliance. PDVSA has a request to increase oil production, and I am sure that by joint efforts we will help in this.”

Following the meeting, PDVSA and KFU management agreed to consider signing a memorandum of understanding during the next meeting of the Russia-Venezuela High Level Intergovernmental Commission.
