KFU represented at Tatarstan Oil Summit in Almetyevsk
The event took place on 11 July at Almetyevsk State Technological University – Higher School of Petroleum with participation of Vice Premier of Russia Alexander Novak, Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and Aide to the President of Russia Ruslan Edelgeriev.
Kazan Federal University was represented by Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev and Deputy Director for Marketing of Gazprom Neft – KFU Center Vladislav Sudakov.
The summit brought together heads of federal ministries and departments, employees of oil and service companies, and scientists.
The summit discussed the prospects for the development of the domestic fuel and energy complex (FEC), ways to achieve technological leadership in hard-to-recover oil reserves, oil refining and oil and gas chemistry, inter-industry cooperation, climate projects, biotechnology and digital technologies in the Russian fuel and energy complex.
“Kazan University presented the technology of in-situ upgrading of super-viscous oil using a catalyst and steam. Today, more than 20 tons of catalyst are being injected at a Tatneft field. For the first time in world practice, a catalyst for upgrading heavy oil is injected into a horizontal well using SAGD technology,” commented Dr Nurgaliev. “In addition, we presented a project for an engineering center for small-scale chemistry, as well as technologies for forecasting oil and gas deposits.”
Work meetings were held with small oil companies at the summit.
“We also talked about promoting gas injection technology together with our colleagues, the Chinese company Kerui Oil and Gas Services,” added the vice-rector.
Traditionally, the summit is held annually at the same venue as the International Oil and Gas Youth Forum. The key topic of the summit and forum this year was Tatneft – 75 years of technological leadership and contribution to the development of the Russian fuel and energy complex: a look into a sustainable future.
On the same day, the XI Republican Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists was launched in the Solnechny camp. The opening ceremony was attended by vice-premier Novak, who highly praised the geological movement of Tatarstan, and Mr Minnikhanov.
Four educators received appreciation letters from the Rais at the event: Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Andrey Teryokhin, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Oil and Gas Geology Svetlana Valeeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Paleontology and Stratigraphy Guzal Sungatullina, and Associate Professor of the Department of Mineralogy and Lithology Yevgenyia Nurieva.
