KFU employees elected to the board of the Association of Geologists, Geophysicists, and Engineers

The AGGE’s cluster convention is being held in Saint-Petersburg on 20 – 23 April.

The two individuals joining the board are Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev and Chief Research Associate Anastasia Yusupova.

Among AGGE’s main objectives are developing Earth sciences and engineering in Russia, championing innovations, and advancing technological progress.

“Kazan University participates in the activities of AGGE. This organization, founded in 2024, brings together specialists in our field – geologists, geophysicists, and engineers. We, representatives of KFU, are joining the association’s board for the first time. I believe this will be beneficial for our university. It is important to us that students, staff, and alumni receive all the information about conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and other events. It is also valuable that the AGGE facilitates connections between its members and their interactions with companies,” comments Dr Nurgaliev.

At the event, Deputy Director for Continuing Education and Industrial Partnerships of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Ildus Chukmarov presented his report Teaching Contemporary Engineers and Developing Staff of Petroleum Companies with Participation of AGGE. He talked about his concept of cooperation between industrial partners and educational institutions with a coordinating role of AGGE and KFU.

The system is based on marketing, quality management, and management of educational processes. The brand name of the system is Geosynergy, which unites intra-company staff training and external educational space. The unified educational system may include a combined integrated training simulator of a digital deposit (GEO-KIT), which facilitates training in interdisciplinary teams.

Dr Chukmarov explains, “At the convention, we spoke with the President of AGGE about using AI and Gazprom Neft’s resources to create GEO-KITs. With General Director of Geomodel Razvitie LLC, Alexander Amatuni, we discussed a possibility of uniting their Geomodel Conference and our Center for Advanced Training’s courses. We plan to enter cooperation with companies Aeroogeophysics and Geosignal. Furthermore, employees of Sigma Geo are going to study at the Center as well.”

The cluster includes three conferences – Horizontal WellsEngineering and Ore Geophysics; and Saint-Petersburg 2025. Geosciences: from challenges to solution for the future.

Friday, 23 April, is the Youth Day, dedicated to various activities and competitions for students.

“The AGGE Youth Section brings together those who want not only to develop their profession but also to change the professional environment around them. We strive to be helpful at all stages of development: assisting those just starting their careers, supporting proactive students, and creating opportunities for academic and professional growth. Today, our section is doing important work: organizing youth events at conferences, compiling a database of internships across Russia, sharing scientific and educational literature, and promoting employment. It is especially important to me that the Youth Section be an open, free platform where everyone can find support, like-minded people, and opportunities to realize their ideas,” says Dr Yusupova.
