Researcher Anastasia Mikhailova commended at 5th International Oil and Gas Forum in Almetyevsk

The forum was held at Almetyevsk State Technological University.

The main events of the forum were the annual Oil Summit of the Republic of Tatarstan and an educational program in the hackathon format.

Participants of the hackathon united in teams of six people and analyzed the solution of a case in one of four directions. The areas included issues of global technological leadership in oil and gas production, refining and petrochemicals, decarbonization, ESG agenda, industrial biotechnologies, improving the sustainability of the oil and gas industry and the development of new business areas.

Kazan Federal University was represented at the hackathon by Anastasia Mikhailova, Senior Research Associate of the Laboratory of Enhanced Oil Recovery, and Yevgenii Arkhipov, master’s student of IGPT.

Ms Mikhailova led the winning team, which included young specialists from the Financial University of Russia and Almetyevsk State Technological University. The case presented by the team at the hackathon was dedicated to the creation of effective technologies for utilization of associated petroleum gases with high content of ballast impurities.

“We ended up with this assignment as a result of the draw. We prepared the project for two days. We proposed a technology of ballast impurities separation into separate gas fractions and described the methodology of their application in oil production and other areas of activity focused on by Tatneft,” she said.

The Youth Hackathon is a traditional platform for professional networking. Anastasia Mikhailova and Yevgenii Arkhipov exchanged experience with representatives of Russian universities, presented promising developments to Tatneft, which piqued interest among the industry employees. An active dialog with scientists from other universities can give rise to new joint projects, Anastasia believes.

“Our team included people from different spheres, and everyone distinguished himself with a high level of professionalism and high involvement in the process, which, of course, led us to the victory,” she concluded.

The team’s cash prize amounted to 300 thousand rubles.

In addition, as part of the event, six most active young scientists and teachers, including Anastasia, were recognized in a separate nomination and will undergo a paid internship at Tatneft for one month.
