Negotiations held by Rector Lenar Safin and Gazprom Neft
The talks took place on 15 October.
The Rector was joined by Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev and Chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering Mikhail Varfolomeev.
The parties discussed cooperation in specialized chemistry for the oil and gas industry. In particular, the main goal of joint work will be to increase the efficiency of specialized chemistry and optimize the costs of its application. KFU’s laboratories and production facilities will be used.
Lenar Safin noted that the university is ready to maximize its investment in this cooperation, including scaling up the material and infrastructural base of the university, including pilot production sites. The Rector also stressed that it is extremely important to bring joint activities to a tangible result – industrial implementation of specialized chemistry.
Gazprom Neft is a strategic industrial partner of the university. More than a dozen projects are implemented annually in enhanced oil recovery, new technologies and materials, hydraulic fracturing, oilfield chemistry, development of oil and gas condensate fields, formation fluids, catalysts and other areas.
In 2023, a joint development strategy was approved and KFU’s place in the company’s ecosystem was defined. Specialized chemistry was chosen as one of the key vectors of cooperation. Further, a cooperation agreement was signed on the development of low-tonnage chemistry production, and the parties started working together on the creation of domestic technologies for the production of chemical products that are used in hydrocarbon production and treatment processes.
