A delegation from Sultan Qaboos University (Sultanate of Oman) headed by Vice Chancellor, His Highness Dr. Fahad Bin Al Julanda Al Said, visited on 26 May.
The guests were accompanied by Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences, Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Continuing Education and Industrial Partnerships, Vladislav Sudakov, Deputy Director for Marketing of Gazpromneft-KFU Center, Yury Nurmeev, International Cooperation of IGPT, and others, visited the 3D GEO Center and the laboratories of the Institute. During the tour, the representatives of the universities discussed issues of cooperation in oil and gas technologies and student exchange.
After the visit, the Vice Chancellor said he was impressed by the way science is developing at the university in general and at IGPT in particular, and also noted the high level of teaching at the university.
“Our visit is due to the fact that we want to expand our cooperation with your university. Today we signed a memorandum of understanding with KFU, the purpose of which is to implement a program of student exchange,” said the distinguished guest. “It was important for us to visit the Institute of Geology, because the Oil and Gas Research Center of our university cooperates with your Department of Petroleum Engineering. We want to strengthen cooperation. I hope that this will be facilitated by the exchange of students, as well as teachers and scientists.”
Summarizing the meeting, Danis Nurgaliev reminded that Kazan University has been working for several years with Sultan Qaboos University, which, like KFU, teaches oil and gas engineering.
“Oman produces slightly more oil than the Republic of Tatarstan, about 40-50 million tons a year. KFU works with the state oil company of this country, Daleel Petroleum, and we have had several joint projects,” informed the Vice-Rector. “This visit is very important for us, I think we will continue to work together with the university and the company. The meeting will give a new impetus to our relations.”
It should be noted that in May of this year during their visit to Oman, the staff of the Institute (OPES) and made presentations at the conference. In addition, a meeting was held in Muscat with the head of the Oil and Gas Researh Center of Sultan Qaboos University Farooq Al Jahwari, where joint Russian-Omani projects aimed at supporting scientific research related to the creation of polymer and composite materials, catalysts, reagents for the intensification of oil and gas production were discussed.
