Institute presentation conducted for students of the Preparatory School

On 12 March, over thirty young people from Asian and African countries visited the Institute’s building on Kremlyovskaya 4 to get acquainted with the leadership and the Institute’s programs.
Opening the meeting, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev introduced the professions of a geologist and an oiler. Using the students’ native countries as examples, he touched on the high demand that the labor market has for such skills, and described how the Institute has been cooperating with said countries for many years.
Acting Director of the Institute Vladimir Silantyev then stepped in, speaking in detail about the role that minerals and resources play in our lives and how important geology is in the grand scheme of economic development. He noted the fast growth of geological science in many Asian and African countries and said that KFU, being 35th in the world in QS Petroleum Engineering subject rankings, provides excellent opportunities, teaching and infrastructure to become a highly paid professional in this field.
Deputy Director for Continuing Education and Industrial Partnerships Ildus Chukmarov got acquainted with each one of the visitors, inquiring about their enrolment plans. The Institute’s Center for Advanced Training, which he heads, offers various educational formats to satisfy the needs for additional training and on-the-job skill development. Dr Chukmarov said that any student, be it a mathematician, a physicist, or a linguist, can receive additional training in the oil and gas industry for the betterment of their career prospects. Many partners from such different countries as Cuba, Kazakhstan, China, and Vietnam have chosen the Center for Advanced Training as a provider of professional development programs.
The meeting concluded with International Cooperation Officer Yury Nurmeev briefly introducing the entrance exams and the admission process.
“We express gratitude to the Preparatory School for their academic work in teaching, among others, the student who choose our Institute for studies. Their level is indeed impressive,” commented Dr Silantyev.
The registration process for international applicants begins on 1 April.
