Director for Geological Prospecting of Petrogeko LLC holds seminar for Institute and Tatneft employees

Alexander Sokolov, who also holds the position of the Chief Editor of Georesursy journal, shared his experience at the Institute on 19 – 21 February.

“During the lectures we considered the mineral resource base of the Russian Federation and the influence of global oil and gas production trends on its development. The practical experience of reviewing and accepting reports on calculation of hydrocarbon reserves was outlined during the training. The basic principles of expert evaluation and justification of calculation parameters were shown. They considered techniques of creating geological models in the course of calculation. We conducted practical lessons on mapping, correlation of well sections, and assessment of geological reliability of well test results,” Sokolov commented.

At the Institute’s Center for Advanced Training, Sokolov acts as the supervisor of the Evaluation of Geological Reserves and Oil and Gas Fields program.
