Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev’s congratulatory message on Russian Geologist Day

Dear friends!

The first days of April are a special time for us and our Institute – the first Sunday of this month is the Geologist Day. This day was established 60 years ago, so we have an anniversary this year. I remember that time, although I was little back then. The Geologist Day is our wonderful celebration.

Why was this date chosen? Because this is the time when people shake up, and they start thinking about new work plans, about travel, what will they do this year, where to work, where to go fishing, and where to go survey for minerals. So on this important day, we go camping, we make barbecue, we set up tents, and rest with our friends, singing songs. This is a wonderful time, and I congratulate you all with our holiday, the Geologist Day, the day of romantics, the day of travellers, the day of people looking for rocks, the people who love nature.

So on this day, most importantly, I wish you that this year you get great projects and you visit beautiful places. I also wish you health and success in your studies – don’t fail and don’t get expelled, and then you become a true geologist. You will see the world, you will discover gold, diamonds, oil and gas, and you will become happy and successful individuals.
