Institute employees offer short courses in Qingdao, China

From June 30 to July 3, 2024, Boris Platov and Igor Ognev gave a series of lectures at the China University of Petroleum for master’s and PhD students.

Boris Platov dedicated his course to modern methods of geophysical well logging, detailing the physical principles of their operation and geological interpretation of the data.

Igor Ognev presented the basin analysis basics, revealing the mechanisms of formation of oil and gas-bearing sedimentary basins, the principles of heat flow formation and the processes of hydrocarbon deposits formation within them.

The lectures piqued interest among Chinese students, who gained valuable knowledge about the advanced achievements of Russian and world science and technology in geology and oil and gas production. The courses helped the students to master practical skills of assessing the maturity of oil-bearing strata using basin analysis methods and identifying promising oil-bearing horizons based on the results of geophysical well logging.

The University actively develops partnership relations with China. Within the framework of the agreement with the China University of Petroleum, two students have already successfully completed a double degree course at the master’s program Complex data analysis in geosciences.
