Series of negotiations held with partners in Irkutsk Oblast

Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev, Director of the Low Tonnage Chemical Technology Park Mikhail Varfolomeev, and Deputy Director for Marketing of KFU-Gazprom Neft Center Vladislav Sudakov joined President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Rifkat Minnikhanov’s delegation to the Siberian province.
“On the first day of the trip, we were able to get acquainted with the Baikal Astrophysical Observatory. Director of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics Andrey Medvedev and First Deputy Director Sergey Olemskoy told us about the activities of their institute. We discussed with them issues related to changes in solar activity over a long period of time, and also talked about the use of this data in various geological studies,” comments the vice-rector.
The next day, representatives of Tatarstan visited the Institute of the Earth’s Crust (IEC). Dr Minnikhanov spoke there about the areas of work and achievements of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Dr Nurgaliev presented Kazan Federal University and introduced the activities of our institute. The speech of the Director of the Institute of Earth’s Crust Dmitry Gladkochub was dedicated to the institute that he heads, as well as the Irkutsk office of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. After that, proposals from academic institutes of the Irkutsk Oblast regarding interaction with scientists from Tatarstan were voiced. The sides discussed geothermochronology and studies of the structure of the earth’s crust.
After the meeting, the delegation members toured the Center for Collective Use in Geodynamics and Geochronology of the IEC, the laboratory of complex geophysics, and the laboratory of engineering geology and geoecology.
“A meeting with the rector Mikhail Kornyakov and representatives of the university’s management was held at the Irkutsk National Research Technical University. We talked about KFU, and our interlocutors talked about the research of their university scientists in artificial intelligence, subsoil use, mineral processing, and technology transfer. Then we discussed the possibility of working together in subsoil use,” continues the vice-rector.
A meeting was also held with the Director of the Irkutsk Chemical Company Evgeny Chertovskikh and with representatives of the Irkutsk Oil Company – Director of the Commercialization Department Evgeny Chumakov and Deputy Director of the Department for External Scientific Work Viktor Bezborodov.
“We discussed cooperation to create new chemical, talked about joint projects in oil exploration and geochemical monitoring of deposit development,” says Danis Nurgaliev.
Mikhail Varfolomeev focused on the prospects for cooperation between KFU and scientific and educational organizations of Irkutsk Oblast in chemistry, “We have the potential for cooperation with the Irkutsk Institute of Chemistry. We have taken the first steps with Irkutsk Technical University to establish relations with the aim of creating reagents for the mining and processing industry on order of large industrial companies, and we are also considering developing cooperation in oil and gas technologies, especially since KFU has good positions in the rankings in this area and demonstrates good results of scientific activity. I would like to note that we have experience of cooperation with the Irkutsk Oil Company – one of the largest in the region. We have carried out joint projects. I hope that the meeting with the company’s management will allow us to expand the pool of projects for the future.”
Sergey Adonin shares his impressions of communicating with representatives of KFU and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, “The visit of colleagues from the Republic of Tatarstan is a wonderful event for the scientific life of our region, and I am very glad that our institute acted as the organizer. I hope that our guests were able not only to enjoy the trip, but also to make new contacts in scientific organizations and universities of the Angara region. I am sure that our organization, the Favorsky Institute, has many topics for cooperation with scientists and industrialists of Kazan, some of which we have already discussed.”
