PhD student Alfayaad Assim Ghani Hashim among winners of Engineer of the Year in Tatarstan 2023
He was commended in the Petroleum Industry nomination in the Youth/Success/Prospects category.
His project Intensification of oil production using wave technology at the late stage of field development is characterized by a significant scientific and applied potential for oil industry enterprises and can be tested at one of the oil and gas producing fields of Tatarstan. Moreover, this work takes into account the strategic priorities of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to the young scientist, this technology will open new prospects in energy thanks to ultrasonic and hydrodynamic impact.
“These methods make it possible to change the structure and properties of oil mixtures, which can lead to a significant improvement in their fluidity and viscosity reduction. Ultrasonic stimulation is based on the use of high frequency mechanical vibrations that can cause disaggregation of asphaltenes and resins, as well as change the microstructure of the oil emulsion,” explains Alfayaad.
The application of wave technologies in the oil industry has several advantages: they can significantly reduce the viscosity of heavy oil, which improves the conditions of its extraction and transportation. Also, these methods can be applied at various stages of oil production – from field development to oil processing at refineries. Finally, wave technologies can be implemented using existing equipment, which reduces the cost of implementing new technologies. This project has been put to life under the guidance of Ruslan Kemalov, Associate Professor of the Department of Oil, Gas and Carbon Materials Technology.
Engineer of the Year is the largest social project implemented in Tatarstan to identify and popularize the expertise and achievements of the best engineers by industry.
