Irek Mukhamatdinov contributes to the 13th International Conference on Oil and Gas Chemistry in Tomsk

As is the tradition, the work was held in four sections: chemistry of oil and gas; oil and gas recovery enhancement, preparation, transportation of oil and gas; thermal and thermocatalytic processes of processing of carbon- and hydrocarbon-containing raw materials; alternative methods of processing of traditional and unconventional raw materials. Among the speakers was Irek Mukhamatdinov, Senior Research Associate of the Laboratory of Enhanced Oil Recovery.

“At the plenary session I presented our developments on thermocatalytic and microwave technologies for the development of high-viscosity oil fields. I spoke about Kazan Federal University’s unique research,” shared Mukhamatdinov.

The presented microwave technology will contribute to the formation of a new direction in petrochemistry. As is known, the use of in-situ catalysts allows extracting high-viscosity oil from a depth of up to 1 kilometer. In order to be able to extract such oil from oil reservoirs that lie deeper, Kazanian scientists have developed a new technology of microwave influence.

Also under the chairmanship of Irek Mukhamatdinov and Maxim Kazakov, representative of the Institute of Catalysis (Novosibirsk), the work of the section “Thermal and thermocatalytic processes of processing of carbon- and hydrocarbon-containing raw materials” was organized.

In the end, representatives of Kazan Federal University and the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry discussed further plans for cooperation.
