Institute visited by delegation of Stroikeramika

The guests toured our laboratories and met with Institute employees.

General Director of Stroikeramika LLC Artur Khusnutdinov, co-owner Emil Khusnutdinov, and Director for Development Vadim Bespalov told about their new plans to extract rottenstone. They offered KFU scientists to study rottenstone-bearing rocks in Chuvashia.

“Rottenstone is very widely used in medicine, agriculture, civil engineering, and oil industry. We’d like to select most promising areas, so we first need to study its content and properties. We apply to our alma mater because we know that there are excellent experts and great laboratories here. It was even more evident during our tour of the facilities today. So we are ready to fund this rottenstone research project,” commented Emil Khusnutdinov.

Among the participants of the discussion were Chair of the Department of Mineralogy and Lithology Anton Kolchugin, Chair of the Department of Regional Geology and Minerals Rafael Sungatullin, Professor of the Department of Mineralogy and Lithology Vladimir Morozov, Associate Professor of the Department of Regional Geology and Hydrogeology Eduard Korolyov, Associate Professor of the Department of Regional Geology and Minerals Anatoly Tyurin, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology Lilia Biktasheva, and Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev.

Dr Nurgaliev noted that among the advantages of rottenstone are lightness and porosity. The pores can serve as microcapsules for transporting materials into soil, oil reservoirs, etc.

The sides agreed to compile a roadmap and work out a strategy for further cooperation in this matter.

Dr Kolchugin concluded, “We are opening a new promising are of studies of non-metallic raw materials. In the nearest time we are planning a trip to the rottenstone deposit to collect samples. After that we are going to determine the scope of work for analysis.”
