Chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering Mikhail Varfolomeev graduates from federal staff pool program

84 educational and science executives from 27 provinces participated.

The graduation ceremony was visited by Vice-Premier of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko, Aide to the President of Russia Andrey Fursenko, and Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov.

“This program was launched on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to create a personnel management reserve for science, higher education and technology in Russia. The program, whose first enrollment took place this year, was supervised by the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation. The selection for participation in the program was complex. I am very glad that I managed to pass it and received the approval for participation from the coordinators. The program was very rich. In the course of its implementation, the participants went through eight modules, each of which was conducted in different regions of the country, which allowed to assess the characteristics of the subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of science, higher education and technological development. The speakers were heads of regions, heads of relevant ministries, and leading experts on various subjects. Certainly, I am grateful to the organizers for this opportunity and to the leadership of our Kazan University, which supported participation in the program,” says Dr Varfolomeev, who recently joined Russian Presidential Council on Science and Education.

The program modules were digital transformation in science, management, strategic development of a university, technological matters, business-science interactions, and regional projects. The on-site modules took place at companies, research institutions, museums, sports facilities, and other venues in various provinces.

“During the training period a community of indifferent, active people was formed, who became like one team. Our project group was engaged in the development of instruments of interaction between science and business. We proposed a program concept that would make it possible to launch complex joint projects with the participation of science and business, aimed at creating specific products. We hope that in the near future our project will be implemented,” adds the graduate.
