Fresh students welcomed to alma mater by Institute leadership

The young people and their future mentors convened at the meeting hall on 1 September.

They were greeted by Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev, Acting Director of IGPT Vladimir Silantyev, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Andrey Teryokhin, Deputy Director for Moral Education and Social Work Natalya Khorkova, Deputy Director for Continuing Education and Industrial Partnerships Ildus Chukmarov, Director of the Small Tonnage Chemical Technology Park Mikhail Varfolomeev, department heads, and student activists.

Dr Nurgaliev said, “It’s excellent that you have chosen the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies. We work on graduating not just experts, but also happy and successful people – this is our motto. Your future profession is wonderful and very interesting. You are going to travel, open new lands, and meet new people. You can be happy and successful because your profession is in high demand. The first year is always a bit complicated. I promise you that we can help you deal with the problems. Goodspeed, dear friends!”

Among the department chairs who addressed the freshmen and freshwomen were: Department of Geography and Cartography – Yelena Pudovik, Department of Theory and Methodology of Geographical and Environmental Education – Ruslan Ulengov, Department of Oil and Gas Geology – Boris Uspensky, Department of Regional Geology and Minerals – Rafael Sungatullin, Department of Geology and Hydrogeology – Eduard Korolyov, and Department and Geophysics and Geographic Information Technology – Damir Khasanov.
