ResNeuro, KFU’s proprietary software kit, wins commendation at Russian Energy Week 2025

ResNeuro is designed to localize residual oil reserves at fields in the late stages of development. The innovative method identifies areas of deposits with the lowest degree of hydrocarbon biodegradation, which is where residual oil reserves are most often found.

The software suite was presented at the competition by young scientists Lead Engineer Vasilya Garifullina and Engineer Vladislav Savelyev, employees of the Digital Earth Lab.

“A significant portion of residual oil reserves is located in pillars—areas bounded by flushed, highly permeable zones,” explains Vasilya Garifullina. “The challenge lies in delineating these areas and developing effective development methods. ResNeuro not only allows us to estimate the volumes and localize residual oil reserves (pillars) at large fields in the late stages of development, but also ensures effective management of the development of these pillars. This enables high oil recovery rates. ResNeuro localizes pillars in washed-out areas using neural networks that analyze the geological and physical properties of the formation and well performance data. I would like to point out that the accuracy and predictive power of the product are confirmed by geochemical analysis.”

This software package, which automates oil production and improves its efficiency, holds 12 patents, including two international ones. It has been tested at Romashkinskoye field in Tatarstan.
