Institute representatives awarded during Territory of Knowledge festival
The event was held on February 10.
Third-year student Yaroslav Burylin was recognized for his active participation in student scientific societies and his contribution to the development of the student club movement. He is a member of the Geobarsy (Geological Snow Leopards) Student Scientific Club. The student is a winner and runner-up in various competitions and Olympiads. Notably, at the First World Geology Championship his team took 2nd place, and he personally ranked among the top ten participants.
“I plan to be a geophysicist scientist. It is important for me to understand the interconnections between geology, physics, mathematics, and computer science. Currently, magnetic methods and geoecology are of the greatest interest to me, but I also want to delve deeper into electromagnetism methodology and seismic exploration to apply the knowledge gained in practice. My coursework is dedicated to the comprehensive study of sediments in Lake Maloye Miassovo in the Southern Urals,” said the student.
Yaroslav works as a laboratory assistant at the Research Laboratory of Paleoclimatology, Paleoecology, and Paleomagnetism and participates in research supported by a Russian Science Foundation grant under the measure Conducting Initiative Research by Young Scientists. He presents his scientific achievements at various conferences.
Raushaniya Mudarisova, Associate Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Geology, was awarded for supporting student initiatives in research activities and for her personal contribution to the development of student science and the club movement at KFU.
“For three years in a row, I participated in the International Geological Championship GeoChallenge, organized by the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources, as the leader of the Geobarsy team, consisting of IGPT students. I also prepared students for the championship. Every year, our guys took prizes in individual disciplines and demonstrated high overall team results,” shared the lecturer. “I want to congratulate everyone on Russian Science Day, which was celebrated on February 8, and also thank the students for their active participation in the scientific life of the university. I hope that the number of students engaged in science will continue to grow!”
First-year Master’s student, secretary of the KFU Society of Petroleum Engineers Student Chapter, and engineer at the Research Laboratory for Generation, Storage, and Transportation of Hydrogen and Low-Carbon Energy Carriers, Valeria Kadysheva, received a letter of appreciation for high achievements in research activities and her personal contribution to the development of student science.
According to the student, she managed to achieve success thanks to the support of her scientific supervisor, Ilgiz Minkhanov, Associate Professor at the Department of Petroleum Engineering.
“In 2025, I participated in a number of significant scientific events. For example, I presented a report titled ‘A New Approach to Determining Oil Recovery Using SAGD Technology’ at the SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference. And at the Lobachevsky All-Russian Contest of Scientific Papers, the report I presented was titled ‘Analysis of the Influence of Steam Injection in Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) Technology for Super-Viscous Oil Objects.’ It was named the best in the Energy section, and I was awarded a winner’s diploma,” reported Valeria.
Dr Minkhanov also received an award for training and supporting students actively participating in research activities.
“My duty is to develop student science, attract students to solve real scientific problems, inspire new achievements, and stimulate their interest in obtaining new knowledge,” says the lecturer. “As for Valeria Kadysheva, she has been working in the research laboratory since her third year. There, under my leadership, she not only prepared her thesis but also engaged in solving problems for oil-producing companies.”
